THE EBRO DELTA
With 350 km2, the Ebro Delta is the 4th biggest polder land in the Mediterranian.
It is an important ecosystem of wetlands and productive agricultural área. Two large fields flank the delta from the north and the south, giving it’s characteristic shape of a flying bird.
Scientists have estimated that the river first reached the Mediterranian Sea about 13 million years ago. The curious shape of the Ebro Delta reveals that it has had a rich morphological history and it has undergone a tremendous change recently.
It was declared a natural park in August 1983 and expanded in 1986. Currently, has an area of 7,736 ha (3979 ha in the right hemi delta and 3757 ha in the left).
Deltebre has almost 13 km of fine sand beaches, of which Riumar is 1.1 km and connects with the other beaches of “Bassa d’Arena”, “ la Marquesa” and “la Punta del Fangar”.
At lunchtime, let yourself be surprised by the gastronomy of Deltebre. Its wealth is characterized by its great variety of fresh and local products.
It’s rice, seafood and fresh fish are a revolution for the palate.
